First Christian Church

First Christian Church of Leisure World teaches from God’s word the Holy Bible, verse by verse. It is a friendly church that welcomes all visitors to join in worship and explore God’s word together, “That we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine” Romans 1:12.

Pastor’s Message

What should a born-again believer’s life look like after coming to faith in Jesus Christ? Should a person’s life continue as it is, being consumed with the desires of the world? Or should there be a recognizable change?

In Romans 6, the apostle Paul addresses the sanctification of those who have been justified by their faith. Sanctification is when people are “set apart for God’s purposes and being holy.”

In Romans 6:10-11 Paul wrote, “For the death that He (Jesus) died, He died to sin once for all; but the life He lives, He lives to God. Likewise, you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Through the death of Jesus, a believer is dead to the desires of the flesh, but alive to God. It is through belief that the Holy Spirit can accomplish this for believers.

Weekly Services

Sunday services are from 9:30-10:45 a.m. and feature traditional hymnal music led by Janet Ray with Ruth Bonnema at the piano and choir singing.

Saturday services include contemporary songs, led by Gregory Black with guitar and vocal accompaniment. Saturday service time is 9:30-10:45 a.m.

Midweek Studies

Melli Herrera leads the Monday Bible study from 10:3011:30 a.m.

Pastor Bruce Humes leads the Thursday Bible study from 10:3011:30 a.m. and the Friday prayer and Bible study from 4-5 p.m.

Scripture of the Week

“But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit,” 2 Corinthians 3:18.
