This month America First Republican Club member Bob Spence will give a presentation on tariffs, a hot topic in today’s media. Spence has over 40 years’ experience in the fields of international trade, foreign direct investment, and global transactions. He began his career with the State of Georgia’s Department of Industry and Trade’s Tokyo office. In this capacity he developed expert-level knowledge in tariffs, negotiating with major corporations, and interfacing with international government agencies.
Spence served as chairman of the California Inland Empire District Export Council, a U.S. Secretary of Commerce appointment. His teaching includes adjunct lecturer at the University of Southern California and a faculty position at the University of Phoenix in global real estate development and global organization management. He will present a talk on tariffs’ impact to the U.S. economy.
The America First Republican Club will meet on Wednesday, Aug. 20, in Clubhouse 3, Room 2, with social time starting at 4:30 p.m. and the business meeting at 5. This month is a Pitch-in Dinner theme. Members are asked to bring their favorite entrée, vegetable, salad, or dessert to share during social time. Visitors or prospective members are always welcome. The club’s mission is to educate, engage, and activate members in their duty as citizens, including working to elect like-minded candidates to local, state, and federal offices.
The club’s information booth will be set up on Monday, Aug. 18, outside Clubhouse 6 from 9-11 a.m., which coincides with Golden Age Foundation’s hospitality hours. Members host the booth and informally chat about current events and issues of concern with people who visit.
