First Christian Church

First Christian Church of Leisure World teaches from God’s word the Holy Bible, verse by verse. It is a friendly church that welcomes all visitors to join in worship and explore God’s word together, “That we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine” Romans 1:12.

Pastor’s Message

In Romans 5:12 Paul wrote, “Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned.” In this chapter, Paul presents the mystery of the ultimate death of man.

In Genesis 3 there is the account of the fall of man into sin and death. The apostle Paul sees that account as historical. To understand death, believers must understand that Adam’s disobedience to God’s command plunged all of humanity into sin, and death.

Paul goes back to the garden of Eden in Genesis 2:16-17. It says, “And the Lord commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.” Then he makes no effort to prove Genesis 2-3 but clearly speaks of them as fact.

But there is good news, in Romans 5:17 the apostle explains that, “If by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the one, Jesus Christ.” Death, the result of one man—Adam’s—offense, and life the result of one man— Jesus’—righteous act.

Weekly Services

Sunday services are from 9:30-10:45 a.m. and feature traditional hymnal music led by Janet Ray with Sherry Parmenter at the piano.

A trio of singers will sing “YouAreMyAllinAll” during the service.

Saturday services include contemporary songs of worship, led by Gregory Black with guitar and vocal accompaniment. Saturday service time is 9:3010:45 a.m.

Midweek Studies

Melli Herrera leads the Monday Bible study from 10:3011:30 a.m.

Pastor Bruce Humes leads the Thursday Bible study from 10:3011:30 a.m. and the Friday prayer and Bible study from 4-5 p.m.

All Leisure World residents are welcome to attend the above services and Bible studies.

Scripture of the Week

“For Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, so that He might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit” 1 Peter 3:18.
