The LW Democratic Club will co-sponsor a meeting with the Seniors for Peace Club on Aug. 7, in Clubhouse 4 at 2 p.m. to hear from Chris Kluwe the Democratic candidate for State Assembly District 72.
At the Democratic Club’s July 23 membership meeting, people had the opportunity to join Joe Kalmick, a member of the Seal Beach City Council, in an informative discussion about LW’s water issue, parking in Seal Beach and the housing issue relevant to the community. Kalmick also has many years working on ecological concerns that affect the beautiful beaches in Seal Beach and Orange County and shared the City Council’s many accomplishments throughout his tenure. While Kalmick will be termed out this year, he stressed the need to quickly find a new progressive City Council leader to fill his position representing Olde Town and Surfside Colony.
The Democratic Club’s hospitality booth is open on the first Tuesday and the third Thursday each month from 10:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m. People are encouraged to stop by and visit with like-minded individuals, register to vote, change address, or change party affiliation. The club’s Voter Education series is now held on the second Wednesday of the month from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in Clubhouse 3, Room 3. The Lunch Bunch group meets on the first Wednesday to catch up with old and new friends and enjoy a meal together at Hof’s Hut on Seal Beach Boulevard starting at 11:30 a.m. For more information, email Debbie Wrathall at Debbiewrathall@mac.com.
