a frail clay lamp from which shines the light of the gospel, the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ.

The Apostle Paul claims this as his own experience. He says that Satan had blinded his eyes to the truth, so that he had become a violent aggressor, opposing Jesus Christ and the Christians.
