LW Men’s Golf League

Five golfers of the Leisure World Men’s Golf League challenged the Willowick Golf Course in Santa Ana on July 11.

With its length, challenging fairways and difficult rough Willowick challenges everyone. This round two of the five players shot at or below net par, and there were no birdies.

Dave LaCascia had fewest putts and was closest to the pin on the 140-yard par 3 fourth hole. Gary Stivers was closest on the 150-yard par 3 12th hole.

Winners (net score: gross minus handicap): LaCascia, 3 under 68, first place; Clay Fischer, even par 71, second; Sam Choi and Stivers, third; Bob Munn, fourth.

On June 20, 12 golfers and the delightful Ethan— the 10-year-old grandson of Randy Massaro—tackled the River View Golf Course in Santa Ana. Ethan played great and will probably turn pro in 10-12 years.

With fair playing conditions, 10 of the 12 golfers shot net at or below par and there were seven birdies —two by Jim Goltra and Clay Fischer, and one each by Dave LaCascia, Jae Choi and Larry Hillhouse.

Closest to the pin on the 150-yard par 3 second hole was Tom Ross, and on the 100-yard par 3 ninth hole it was Sam Choi. Goltra and Ross had fewest putts.

A flight winners: Goltra, first place; Hillhouse, second; Fujio Norihiro, Fischer, Jae Choi and LaCascia, third; Sam Choi, fourth; Gary Stivers and Chris Lankford, fifth.

B flight winners: Tom Ross, first place; Randy Massaro, second; Bill Zurn, third.

The Monday and Friday golf leagues play at four local courses. Advance league reservations are required with a sign-up sheet available at each round.

Those interested in playing can contact Gary Stivers at 714-313-3697 or Dave LaCascia at 801- 674-5975.
