Keep safe this mosquito season
The black-and-white striped mosquitoes, also known as the ankle biters, typically bite during the daytime and can now be found in every city.
While the Orange County Mosquito and Vector Control District (OCMVCD) conducts the treatments to keep mosquito populations at bay, smaller sources of water around the patio or indoor spaces can serve as mosquito breeding grounds.
Other mosquito breeding sources include bird baths, flower pots and gutters. The OCMVCD recommends to regularly clean and maintain those areas to prevent breeding.
These insects only need a small amount of water to reproduce, so it is important for every resident to take an active role in mosquito control.
