Fireworks show in Los Alamitos will continue despite base closure

A family-friendly July 3 event was cancelled after the Los Alamitos Joint Forces Training Base was closed to the public due to “ongoing military operations,” according to Los Alamitos officials. Last year’s event attracted 12,000 attendees.

Despite the closure of the base to the public, the fireworks show will go on. Though people won’t be allowed to enter the military base, they can watch the 9 p.m. show today, July 3, from nearby locations. The show will also be livestreamed on the City of Los Alamitos’ social media accounts.
