SHUFFLEBOARD CLUB

The Shuffleboard Club held its annual Joan LaCascia Memorial Tournament on June 14.

Twenty players competed for cash prizes donated by Dave LaCascia in memory of his mother, who was an avid shuffle board player here in Leisure World.

The object was to score as many points as possible without knocking opponents disks off. Players randomly drew for courts and opponents for two different games. Scores of both games were added together. The players with the highest scores received cash prizes.

First place by one point went to Rod Leebrick; Ron Osgood, second; Anne Calvo and Bob Peterson, third. The club congratulates all the contestants.

Open play is scheduled for Mondays at 9 a.m. and Wednesdays at 8:30. Players should arrive promptly. Due to construction around Clubhouse 1, open play was cancelled the week of June 16.

The next major event will be the annual picnic, to be held in the picnic area of Clubhouse 1 on Aug. 9. Those who want to attend must sign up in the courts building by Aug. 1.
