At the June 12 Photo Arts Club meeting, President Regine Schumacher thanked members who had submitted photos for the Creative Writers Club joint project. The club’s members chose 10 photos, all of which will serve them as inspiration to write a story or poem. Copies of the stories and poems written will be provided to the Photo Arts Club at its July 10 meeting.
On July 25 in Clubhouse 3, Room 1, at 1 p.m. the Creative Writers Club will have an ice cream social and members of the club are invited to meet the authors. The photos will be returned to their respective owners.
Ben Benjamins began the review of the photos by saying that he received 80 photos from members—the most of any subject. He reminded the photographers that by timing photos early or late in the day, they can take advantage of excellent lighting effects, enhancing the photos. Something to avoid is flat light on the subject. Many of the flower photos were outstanding. He noted that he was seeing improvement in the photos that the members are sending in for review.
Club members who joined the “Nature Walks” in El Dorado Park on May 15 enjoyed the field trip, especially since it was such a beautiful day.
The club thanks Les Coombes for hanging two photos in the Health Care Center hallway, filling an empty gap.
Individuals with technical or other questions will be paired with someone who can help them for individual discussion after the meeting. Everyone is welcome. For more information, call Regine Schumacher at 562-430-7978.
