First Christian Church

First Christian Church of Leisure World teaches from God’s word, the Holy Bible, most often verse by verse. It is a friendly church that welcomes all visitors to join in worship and explore God’s word together, “that we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine,” Romans 1:12.

Pastor’s Message

Paul’s letter to the Romans clearly addressed the issue of being justified in the sight of a righteous God as being by faith in his son Jesus Christ and not by human efforts or by obedience to the law.

In Chapter 4, verses 9-12 of his letter to the Romans, Paul deals with the issue of circumcision, that physical act God used as a sign of the covenant God made with the chosen people. The

FIRST CHRISTIAN, page 24 Jews felt that that physical act somehow justified them before their God. The apostle Paul, a circumcised Jew, converted by Jesus Christ himself, reminds all that Abraham was accounted as righteous before he was circumcised. If Abraham was seen as righteous before being circumcised, why can’t others, gentiles, be seen as justified? As the apostle Paul continues in his letter, he will answer that and other questions.

Weekly Services

Sunday services are from 9:30-10:45 a.m. and feature traditional hymnal music led by Janet Ray with Sherry Parmenter at the piano. Sandy Carlson will do the special music.

Saturday services from 9:30-10:45 a.m. include contemporary songs of worship, led by Gregory Black with guitar and vocal accompaniment.

The Woman’s Bible study led by Melli Herrera is on Monday from 10:30-11:30 a.m.

The Thursday Bible Study led by Pastor Humes is from 10:3011:30 a.m.

The Friday Prayer and Bible Study with Pastor Humes is from 4-5 p.m.
