Letters to the Editor
Editor:
Thank you so much for all the assistance, thoughtfulness and generosity of time and efforts given to me, which no doubt was the prevailing cause for the happy result this afternoon of my reelection to the GRF Board of Directors from Mutual 15.
I’d like to give a personal note of recognition to my fellow candidates, Phil Friedman and Paul Corrigan who ran for the GRF Board rather than against me personally.
I appreciate your professional and respectful campaigns.
To all the shareholders in Leisure World, your votes and your participation in this process are significant and meaningful.
I encourage everyone to attend meetings, contact your representatives, express your opinions and become an active shareholder, to join in participating in your own way to the best senior community, now on the brink of even a brighter future. My heartfelt thanks to you all.

One of the amenities living here in LW is the self-service car wash.
I have been waiting patiently, but week after week I see that the high-pressure hoses are out of service. Surely, we can’t be waiting for parts all this time. I tend to think that maintenance of our services and equipment ought to receive a high priority. Howard Small Mutual 7 Editor’s note: Three of four pressure hoses were just repaired and are operational. Parts are expected soon to repair the last station. Editor: I attended the LW Cabaret Show May 31 in Clubhouse 2, and must say I was thoroughly entertained and energized. It was a blast.
The professionalism of the participants, the energy and just the plain fun generated by the show left me high as I floated out after the show.
It was truly a most pleasant and entertaining two hours I’ve spent in a while. I will, in the future, mark my calendar whenever the LW Cabaret cast gathers again. They deserve a big bravo to all. Steve Cohen Mutual 14 Editor: The City of Seal Beach wants to increase water rates effective Aug. 1. I assume that is the start of its fiscal year.
It is not the start of the year for our HOA fees nor the start of the tax year.
I understand costs go up, and if we want services, our prices also need to go up.
But the city should accommodate our fiscal dates since we’re the ones paying the fees, and we’re the voters.

May 31 was a fest of musical presentations for this Leisure World music-loving resident, who was toe-tapping to the beats and humming to the melodies. What an absolutely delightful afternoon and evening of music.
First, thank you to The Good News Singers who presented their program “Sing a New Song” that afternoon.
The program included 11 gospel songs with piano accompaniment. Also a waltz dance performance was featured. In addition to the beautiful singing with piano accompaniment plus the waltz dance performance, The Good News Singers program bulletin always has an extra detail.
The Bible reading corresponding with each song is listed. This extra detail always makes me smile as later I especially enjoy reading each of these Bible readings.
Thank you also to the Cabaret Club, which presented its “Simply The Best” program as both a late afternoon performance and as an evening performance. Music lovers in the audience were entertained with 19 songs with piano accompaniment, a piano medley and a comedy act. Yes, the singing with piano accompaniment was excellent. Yes, the piano medley was excellent. Yes, the comedy act was excellent.
Thank you especially to The Good News Singers and the Cabaret Club for your dedication to entertain Leisure World residents as revealed by untold hours of practicing.
I’m delightedly looking forward to your next shows.

I read with interest Earick Ward’s letter (June 4). I’m not going to bother getting into the 14th amendment. It would be a waste of time. But I will get into the Library of Congress and the president telling them to remove books he doesn’t agree with. The library serves multiple purposes. It acts as the research arm for the United States Congress, providing it with information for the legislative process.
Additionally, it manages the largest collection of books, recordings, photographs, maps, and manuscripts in the world, serving as a national library and resource for scholars, researchers, and the public. It also administers the national copyright system.
And the last line covers why it has books people may not like. Everything that is copyrighted must have a copy of it in that library.
When a book is published, a copy is sent to the Library of Congress. It is not a lending library.
The fact that President Trump and Mr. Ward think that children are going in to take out books with explicit sex in them just goes to show how uninformed they are.
