How to make an earthquake emergency kit

Creating an earthquake kit or supplementing a premade kit is an opportunity for people to be prepared when a major earthquake strikes. General guidelines recommend storing enough food, water and gear for three days (72 hours) per person.

Below is a list of essentials for a stay-in-place survival kit that should be kept in a box, backpack or earthquake bag within an easy reach. Remember to refresh water and food items every six months.
