SENIORS FOR PEACE

Seniors For Peace will meet at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11, in Clubhouse 3, Room 9. The club is honored to have Jane Close Conoley, president of CSULB, as the speaker. She will present a program titled “Diversity, Equity. Inclusion, and Accessibility: The Real Story at CSULB.”

Conoley will speak about DEI: what it is and what it accomplishes. Lately DEI has become controversial and has been much in the news, as the Trump administration takes aim at all such programs at corporations and universities. Conoley will present the true picture of DEI and how it is working at CSULB.

Conoley, who is retiring in August after a distinguished career and 11 years as president of the university, accepted the club’s invitation to speak despite a busy agenda during the last few months on the job. To accommodate her schedule, the meeting day was changed from the usual first Thursday of the month.

After many years of university leadership, writing and community service, Conoley is looking forward to a welldeserved retirement and being able to be more spontaneous in visiting her children and grandchildren. She and her husband are excited about a planned 30-day cruise to New Zealand, Australia and Indonesia in early 2026.

People are advised to arrive early to the meeting as seating will be limited. People can also join via Zoom. Call Nancy Goldstein at 562-896-8604 for the link or for more information.
