Concerned Shareholders
The Concerned Shareholders group will meet on June 3 in Clubhouse 3, Room 2, from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. for a potluck. People are asked to bring a dish to share. The club will watch the livestream counting of the GRF Board votes on TV.
During the Concerned Shareholders all hands meeting on May 19, club members discussed a number of issues and upcoming Leisure World events.
The GRF Board representatives’ election cycle continues. Club members pitched in to stuff and address envelopes for Bob Simon’s run in Mutual 17.
The City of Seal Beach is reviewing a 150% increase in water fees. Leisure World has two meters for the entire property. Even though residents make up one third of the city’s total population, have a low vote in what contributes to important decisions. On May 27 there was be a study session in the Seal Beach City Council chambers. Club members were encouraged to attend.
The club is moving forward to Phase 5 in its All Hands Meeting plans. Discussion focused on supporting the new GRF Board, and how members can help. The club also reviewed the need for patience while the new board gets started and decides current issues.
The club reminds residents that there is always something they can do to make a difference: talk to neighbors, attend a meeting, learn about candidates, participate in a committee, contribute money to the cause, and educate themselves about the community.
