The SBLW Democratic Club’s next meeting will be on Wednesday, May 28,in Clubhouse 3, Room 2, at 1:30 p.m. All current and potential members are invited to arrive as early as 12:30 to socialize with other like-minded Leisure World residents.
Florice Hoffman, the newly elected chair of the Orange County Democratic Party will be the featured speaker for the meeting. Professionally, Hoffman is a dedicated workers’ rights attorney. Her political activism began in 1995 when she campaigned for Loretta Sanchez who was Orange County’s only Democratic Congressional candidate. Over the past two decades, Hoffman has played a pivotal role in transforming Orange County’s political landscape.

On Saturday, May 24 from noon-3 p.m., anti-fascist rallies will be held up and down Pacific Coast Highway from Seal Beach to San Clemente. The theme for the events being organized in Seal Beach, Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, Costa Mesa, Irvine and Laguna Beach will be “Remembering WWII Fascist Fighters.” The Seal Beach component of this demonstration will take place at the corner of Main Street and PCH. LW Democrats and supporters are invited to participate in this demonstration organized by the Indivisible movement in the 47th Congressional District. On Wednesday, June 4, at 11:30 a.m., the Democratic Club will host the “Lunch Bunch” at the Hof’s Hut Restaurant & Bakery. New and potential club members are encouraged to attend. No reservations are required. For more information, email debbiewrathall@ mac.com.
LW Democrats and supporters can stop by the club’s hospitality and voter information booth outside Clubhouse 6 from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday and third Thursday of every month. Volunteers will be available to answer questions about the club’s activities and receive suggestions for future club activities.
