Redeemer Lutheran and St. Theodore
The congregations of Redeemer Lutheran and St. Theodore thank all who participated in the Spring Fling Bazaar. For two days, there was a constant flow of people finding their way into the Fellowship Hall to discover all the treasures many talented and artistic people were offering. There were baked goods, sandwiches with freshly baked cookies.
On Sunday, May 18, the congregations will celebrate the fifth Sunday of Easter with Rev. Murray D. Finck presiding. The lesson reader will be Carol Costello and the prayer leader will be Donna Michelson. The Communion and worship service gathers at 13564 St. Andrews Drive at 10:30 a.m. Fellowship will continue afterwards in the Fellowship Hall with coffee, tea, cookies and snacks.
The congregations continue to collect donations of canned and boxed foods for the hungry.
The Bible study meets on Wednesdays at noon in the Fellowship Hall to continue the study of the Sermon on the Mount. People can bring a Bible and a lunch to the continuous study. On May 21, the study will pick up where it left off in the middle of Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount, in Matthew 5-7. The study is also cross-referencing Luke’s writings about these teachings of Jesus. On Sunday, May 18, participants will be able to pick up the Sermon on the Mount handout for the class on the back table of the sanctuary.
The Gospel lesson for this week is from John 13:31-35. Judas has left the others to betray Jesus—and Jesus’ knowledge that it is about to happen. When Jesus addresses his followers, it is not to condemn Judas. Rather, Jesus calls his followers to love. It seems such a simple request but it is one of the hardest to truly fulfill. Jesus did it by laying down his life for the entire world to conquer sin and death.
