New date set for ‘Art in Bloom’ art show; deadline to apply is May 30

At the May 13 meeting of the Leisure World Art League that featured a workshop by celebrated watercolorist Joe Cibere, League Vice-President Ramayana (RB) Baba announced significant changes to the upcoming “Art in Bloom” exhibition, most notably a new date: June 21, one day earlier than originally scheduled, from 4-7 p.m. in the lobby of Clubhouse 3.

The event planning committee, having met in the Veterans Plaza during afternoon hours, discovered the strong westerly winds might be a threat to delicate art pieces on display in the open-air plaza.

“Art in Bloom,” sponsored by Gasper Monteer Realty Group, will provide residents the opportunity to stroll through displays of a wide range of art and mediums, plus works by Los Alamitos Unified School District (LAUSD) artists.

The catered event will also feature live musical performances, with proceeds providing scholarships to promising LAUSD art students.

Leisure World residents interested in displaying their artwork may pick up an application from the Recreation Department office in Building C. Interested artists can also request an application via email from lwsb.artleague@gmail.com, or by text to 801-319-4613. The application deadline is May 30.
