On Sunday, May 18, Leisure World Baptist will meet at 10 a.m. to celebrate Christian love. This love prizes the fellowship Christians enjoy with fellow believers worldwide, regardless of background or culture.

The Apostle Paul wrote 13 of the 27 documents that form the New Testament. These documents are letters to the churches of the Mediterranean or to important members of those churches. One of the great topics Paul addresses repeatedly is Christian love in 1 Corinthians 16. His vision was that the non-Jewish members of Christ’s church, by giving to the needs of their Jewish brothers and sisters who were also Christians, would help to weld together the Jewish and non-Jewish elements of the early Christian church, elements which today compose Christ’s church globally.

Paul’s vision expresses the hope that the love Christians show for one another would further God’s saving purpose for all mankind. Jesus had expressed this during his earthly ministry, “By this shall all people know that you are my disciples, if you love one another as I have loved you.”
