First Christian Church
First Christian Church teaches from God’s word, the Holy Bible, most often verse by verse. It is a friendly church that welcomes all visitors to join in worship and explore God’s word together, “That we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine” Romans 1:12.
Pastor’s Message
The matter of who is a Jew is discussed in Romans 2:25-29. The Apostle Paul says in verse 25, “For indeed circumcision is of value if you practice the Law; but if you are a transgressor of the Law, your circumcision has become uncircumcision.” Circumcision, a minor surgical procedure performed on Jewish males, was instituted as a sign of Gods covenant with Abraham in Genesis 17:9-14. Paul links the rite of circumcision with the Mosaic law and clearly states that is only profitable if people keep the law. However, that is an impossible task.
Paul explains in Romans 2:28-29 that; “he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh; but he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the Spirit, not in the letter; whose praise is not from men, but from God.” Circumcision of a man’s heart is the work of the Spirit and brings about change in man’s life. It’s that change that bears good fruit and has eternal value.
Paul wrote in Galatians 6:1516, “For neither is circumcision anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation. And those who will walk by this rule, peace and mercy be upon them, and upon the Israel of God.”
