The Democratic Club will meet on Wednesday, May 28, in Clubhouse 3, Room 2, at 1:30 p.m. All LW Democrats and supporters can arrive as early as 12:30 to socialize with other like-minded residents. Members can also join the meeting by Zoom. Email lwsbdemocraticclub@ gmail.com for more information.
The featured speaker for the meeting will be Florice Hoffman, the newly elected chair of the Orange County Democratic Party. Hoffman is a dedicated workers’ rights attorney and a lifelong advocate for social justice.
The club’s Voter Education sessions are held on the third Wednesday of every month in Clubhouse 3, Room 3, at 1 p.m. On May 21, members will gather to write postcards and make phone calls to both Democratic and Republican candidates and potential voters. The LW Seniors for Peace Club will join. Participants are urged to bring cell phones, laptops or iPads. Advance registration is not required, although participation is limited by the room size. Email Beverleybender@gmail.com for information about a possible change in the location.
LW Democrats and supporters can participate in monthly demonstrations organized by the Indivisible movement in the 47th Congressional District. On Saturday, May 24, from noon-3 p.m., Indivisible CA47 antifascist rallies will be held up and down Pacific Coast Highway from Seal Beach to San Clemente. The theme for the events being organized in Seal Beach, Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, Costa Mesa, Irvine and Laguna Beach will be “Remembering WWII Fascist Fighters.” The Seal Beach demonstration will take place at the corner of Main Street and PCH. For more information, email debbiewrathall@mac.com.
On June 4, the Democratic Club will host an informal gettogether “Lunch Bunch” at the Hof’s Hut Restaurant & Bakery at 11:30 a.m. New members are encouraged to attend these first Wednesday of the month gatherings. No reservations are required. For more information, email debbiewrathall@mac.com.
Democrats and supporters can stop by the Democratic Club’s hospitality and voter information booth, in the parking lot outside Clubhouse 6 from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday and third Thursday of the month. Volunteers will be available to answer questions about the club and receive suggestions for activities.
