The LW Community Emergency Response Team (LW CERT), will hold a safety class on Friday, May 23, at 9 a.m. in Clubhouse 3, Room 9. The topic “Prepare for a Power Outage” will be presented by LW CERT President Catherine O’Brien and Vice President Fara Q. Macartney. People will learn how to prepare now, survive during and be safe after a disaster. LW CERT’s free monthly safety classes are 45 minutes long and all residents are welcome to join. Refreshments are provided.

The April safety class, titled “Understand Personality Types,” was taught by O’Brien. Attendees gained a greater understanding of not only their own personality type, but also the ability to recognize different types in others. Knowing a person’s personality type is essential in any team effort by matching their strengths to specific tasks. In an emergency situation, this ability to organize everyone to act in roles suited to their individual personalities and talents is crucial for the best outcome to do the greatest good for the greatest number of people, which is the CERT motto.

Karen Olsen awarded Bob Sims a first aid kit at the LW CERT April meeting.
