Assembly of God

Sunday, May 11, is the day to honor all the wonderful women who have blessed their families and communities in a motherly or mother-like role. God created a special gift when he created Eve. She was the completion of his creation, the exact person Adam needed to partner with to accomplish the task God gave them. She was not an afterthought or a plus-one.

God has enabled women with unique abilities that deserve respect and admiration. When Jesus was ministering on earth, he always esteemed women far above societal and cultural standards. He was gracious to those who thought they didn’t deserve grace. He first revealed himself as Messiah to the Samaritan woman at the well, and she immediately became the first missionary, running to tell others about Jesus.

After his resurrection, Jesus first appeared to the women at the garden tomb, a picture of the act of redemption for all. Pastor Chuck Franco will bring a message from 2 Timothy 1:1-7, titled, “The Influence of Mothers and Grandmothers,” in the Sunday morning service at 10:30 a.m.

The Wednesday, May 14, Bible study will meet at 10 am to go over session six of the “Why Do We Need the Bible?” series by Lisa Harper, titled “How Does God Speak Through the Bible?” This final installment of the series emphasizes the reliability and veracity of God’s love letter to humankind, the Bible.

Leisure World Assembly of God meets on Sundays at 10:30 a.m. in Clubhouse 3, Room 2. The Wednesday Bible study meets at 10 a.m. in Clubhouse 3, Room 2. The Hymn Sing is held on the fourth Sunday evening of the month, at 6 p.m., in the Clubhouse 3 Lobby.
