Meet the Candidates: GRF Board Candidate Forum
CONCERNED SHAREHOLDERS
On April 23, Leisure World residents were invited to a question-and-answer session with opposed Golden Rain Foundation Board Candidates. The Forum was sponsored by Concerned Shareholders, LW Uncensored and Where We Live clubs. The event was attended by approximately 300 residents and several current GRF Board Members.
K.C. Park led an hour-long Korean language session. Following a short break, an English language question and answer roundtable commenced with eight opposed candidates representing Mutuals 9, 14, 15 and 17. Candidates in attendance were: Kathie Jones (Mutual 9), Namil Shin (Mutual 14), Martha Destra (Mutual 14), Marla Hamblin(Mutual 15), Paul Corrigan (Mutual 15), Nick Massetti (Mutual 17), Keith Goodner (Mutual 17), and Robert “Bob” Simon (Mutual 17), who participated via Facetime from Florida. The candidates introduced themselves and answered six questions regarding concerns the shareholders have about leadership, transparency and financial status of Leisure World.
Unopposed candidates Jeffrey Mulqueen (Mutual 1), Sanford “Sandy” Geffner (Mutual 3), Patricia Vienna (Mutual 7), and Edward Jablonski (Mutual 11) had an opportunity to introduce themselves. Geffner reminded residents of the importance of casting their votes even for unopposed candidates. If each Mutual does not attain a quorum, the Mutual itself will be charged for printing and mailing out another vote. He explained that if people do not want to vote for an unopposed candidate, there will be a place on the ballot to mark FOR QUORUM. That way, the ballot will still count toward a quorum, and the Mutual will save money.
The Meet your Candidates Forum was professional, respectful, and informative. The clubs thank all who made this event happen and the attendees.
