Redeemer Lutheran and St. Theodore
The congregations of Redeemer Lutheran and St. Theodore will observe a Maundy Thursday Holy Communion service at 10:30 a.m. today, April 17, remembering the Lord’s Supper. A meditative service will be held on Good Friday, April 18, at 10:30 a.m. in the sanctuary, remembering Jesus’ death on the cross. Easter Sunday will be celebrated on April 20 at the 10:30 a.m. service remembering the resurrection.
The Rev. Murray D. Finck will preside over the Easter service with a sermon titled, “Where We Find New Life and Hope.” The Communion and worship service gathers at 13564 St. Andrews Drive at 10:30 a.m. Fellowship will continue afterwards in the fellowship hall with coffee, tea, cookies and snacks.
The Easter Sunday gospel lesson is from Luke 24:1-12, where women return to anoint the body of Jesus and find it empty. They go to tell the disciples who don’t believe them until Peter goes and checks.
The second part of the lesson is from John 20:1-18. Mary of Magdala announces Jesus’ resurrection. Jesus actually appears to Mary and sends her to the disciples. This week, be aware of those moments of amazement, those moments of a miracle happening (although they are usually small things) and thank God for them.
