Wa-Rite is a femaleonly club that meets on Friday mornings from 9-10 in Clubhouse 3, Room 1. Weighins are from 8-8:45. Dues are $10 a year, plus 10 cents upon signing in. LW ID cards must be shown. Women who want support on their weight-loss journey and to meet likeminded people are welcome to stop by no later than 8:15 to weigh-in and complete the registration paperwork.

On April 4, members learned that the club lost a total of 16 pounds for the week. Lisa Brass and Marshia Larson tied for the biggest loser title with 3-pound loss each. Larson credits her weight loss to eating popcorn for dinner, and Brass took a very different approach to weight loss.

She ate a very restrictive diet of a fat burning soup for seven days. In addition, she consumed fruits, vegetables, beef, unsweetened fruit juices, some skim milk and plenty of water. Brass said that by day 3, if there was no cheating, it is possible to lose up to 7 pounds, however, be aware that it may lead to malnutrition.

April 4 was also a business meeting, the day when the members are held accountable for how they did the month before. The club lost a total of 36 pounds for the month. Gay Gould didn’t gain any weight. EllenLarsen,KathyMoranand Shirlene Bradrick maintained their doctorate degrees in weight loss. Bradrick said she watched what she ate and cut back on her Ritz cracker treats. Bev Bender was named a queen of the month with 3.5-pound weight loss. She lost weight when she was sick and has been working on keeping it off by eating less.
