Redeemer Lutheran and St. Theodore’s

On Sunday, April 13, the congregations of Redeemer Lutheran Church and St. Theodore of Canterbury Episcopal Church will celebrate Palm/Passion Sunday. The Rev. Murray D. Finck will preside with a sermon titled “How Can I Keep From Singing?” The Communion and worship service gathers at 13564 St. Andrews Drive at 10:30 a.m. Fellowship will continue afterwards in the Fellowship Hall with coffee, tea, cookies and snacks. All are welcome. The congregations continue to collect donations of canned and boxed foods for the hungry.

Holy Week

April 13 will begin Holy Week with Palm/Passion Sunday, remembering Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem. The congregations will hold a Maundy Thursday Holy Communion service at 10:30 a.m. on April 17 to remember the Institution of the Lord’s Supper. On Good Friday, April 18, the congregations will hold a meditative service at 10:30 a.m. in the sanctuary to remember Jesus’ death on the cross. Easter Sunday will be celebrated on April 20 at 10:30 a.m., remembering the Resurrection of Our Lord.

Sunday of the Passion/Palm Sunday

The gospel lesson for this week is from Luke 22:14- 23:56. There will be two gospel lessons on April 13, both from Luke. The first is from chapter 19 and tells of the entry into Jerusalem and the praising of God by the people because of the powerful things that Jesus had done. It includes the admonishment from the Pharisees for Jesus to quiet his followers. The second begins in chapter 22 with the Last Supper and continues through to the end of chapter 23 with the burial of Jesus.
