The LW Community Emergency Response Team (LW CERT) will meet on Friday, April 25, at 9 a.m. in Clubhouse 3, Room 9. The topic, “Understand Personality Types” will be presented by LW CERT President Catherine O’Brien. Understanding the different types can help people recognize and appreciate individual gifts, talents and contributions that can benefit teams organized to deal with emergencies.

LW CERT’s free monthly safety classes are 45 minutes long and all residents are welcome to join. Refreshments are provided.

The March safety class, “How to Communicate in an Emergency” was taught by O’Brien and GRF Health and Safety Specialist Eloy Gomez. Attendees learned the importance of having a family emergency communication plan and how to stay in touch with loved ones through texting and social media. Emergency notifications like Nixle and ALERTOC were also discussed. Fara Q. Macartney demonstrated how to use a walkie-talkie and examples of small battery-powered radios were shown.
