Assembly of God
Leisure World Assembly of God will host a traditional Christian observance of Good Friday on Friday, April 18, at noon in Clubhouse 4. Johnny and Ruth Larring will return as special musical guests, leading the congregation in worship and performing some of their most well-loved songs of praise. Johnny and Ruth have performed around the world, blessing thousands with their harmonies.
Pastor Chuck Franco will deliver a sermon focused on the hope of new life after apparent defeat. All residents, friends and family are invited to attend this special and intimate service.
The Sunday before Easter, Palm Sunday, begins the observance of Jesus’s last days of ministry before his crucifixion and resurrection. Expecting a conquering king, sent by God to deliver them from their oppressors, the people were surprised by this ordinary-looking man, riding on the back of a donkey, instead of majestically parading into the city in royal robes, upon the back of a horse befitting a king. Still, a celebration erupted as the people cried “Hosanna” and other declarations of praise, and paved his path with their clothing and palm branches. Pastor Franco will bring the message titled “Cheers and Tears,” from Mark 11:1-15.
The Bible study on Wednesday, April 16 at 10 a.m. will study Session 3 of the “Why Do We Need the Bible?” series by Lisa Harper, titled “Can the Bible Be Trusted?” The group will explore whether a book written by a collection of people thousands of years ago can be relevant and trustworthy.
Leisure World Assembly of God meets on Sundays at 10:30 a.m. in Clubhouse 3, Room 2. The Wednesday Bible study meets at 10 a.m. in Clubhouse 3, Room 2.
The Hymn Sing is held on the fourth Sunday evening of the month, at 6 p.m., in the Clubhouse 3 Lobby.
