Those would like to play a fun and friendly game of Texas Hold ‘Em for a $5 buy-in should make plans to play with the Tournament Poker Club on Saturday, April 5. Regular tournaments are on the first three Saturdays of every month and start with coffee/treats and registration at 10 a.m. Cards are in the air at 10:30. There is no late seating.

March15 had a great turnout for the club’s last regular tournament of the month. Fifty-six players made for an exciting game. High hand winners were Nancy Floyd (8-Q flush) and K.C. Lee (K-K-K-K-J). Shelly Yu won a prize for playing and winning with the promo hand of 2-9.

As the winners of their original table, the final table players were: Katie Hamilton, first place; Stan Fong, second; Harry Sera, third; Namil Shin, fourth; John Burns, fifth; Nita Doyon, sixth; Marvin Rolnick, seventh. Play continued at the final table until Fong and Hamilton were head’s up. In the final hand of the match, Hamilton was holding Q-J and Fong had 10-5. The flop came 9-6-10, and both players called. The turn was an 8, and Fong went all in with a pair of 10s. Hamilton called with Q-J10-9. The river was an 8 which gave Hamilton a straight (Q-8), for the win.

Hamilton has lived in Leisure World for 21 years and has been a member of the poker club for 12 years. This was her third final table win. Hamilton plays in a couple of poker games during the week here in Leisure World, and also likes to garden and enjoys reading and watching TV.

The club congratulates all the winners.
