Learn the history behind the Ukraine/Russia crisis

Dr. Donald Schwartz will speak at the Sunshine Club on Friday, March 14, in Clubhouse 4 at 10 a.m.

Schwartz is a professor emeritus of history at California State University Long Beach where he taught for more than 20 years. His research interests and teaching experience includes modern European and American diplomatic history and the history of the Holocaust. Since retiring in 2010, he has taught in China and Cambodia as part of the Fulbright Specialist Program and continues to lecture on historical topics in Long Beach and Orange County.

Schwartz’ presentation will be on the war in the Ukraine, and will examine the causes of the present conflict between Russia and Ukraine. He will address the war from both the Russian and Ukrainian perspectives, and will analyze the consequences of the war for the United States and Europe.
