Helen Sanders CatPAWS recently received a $10,000 grant to help adoptable pets find people to love. Residents have an opportunity to adopt a cat on March 29.

Adopting a pet in need of a home can bring joy to people and also impact communities, alleviating strain on overcrowded shelters. That’s why Helen Sanders CatPAWS will showcase adoptable felines at PetSmart, 12341 Seal Beach Blvd. on Saturday, March 29, from 11 a.m.–2 p.m. for PetSmart Charities National Adoption Week. CatPAWS aims to find homes for up to a dozen cats and kittens during the event.

“As we strive to save more cats and get more cats into homes, this grant will help support cats in foster homes by providing formula, good food, vaccinations, spay and neuter surgeries as we prepare cats for adoption,” said CatPAWS Director Deborah Felin-Magaldi.

One recent such adoption was Marble, a beautiful light brown male tabby who went to his forever home on March 2. Marble joins another CatPAWS alumni, “Billy the Kid,” in his new home.

“We continue to be grateful for the depth and breadth of generosity from PetSmart Charities and thank the incredible team at our local PetSmart store for its support these many years,” continued Felin-Magaldi. “Not only are the cats saved from uncertainty at over-crowded public shelters, but pets have a positive impact on physical and mental health for people in general.” “Our local shelter and rescue partners are overflowing with animals looking for people to love. Adopting or fostering a pet not only enriches your life but is the best way to support your community and local partners like CatPAWS in their lifesaving work,” said Heidi Marston, director of pet placement at PetSmart Charities. “There is nothing like the unconditional love of a pet. Please stop by your neighborhood PetSmart store and meet your new best friend.”
