Bookstore volunteers needed

FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY

The Friends of the Library is looking for new volunteers for its bookstore and boutique.

Volunteer Patricia Kruger called it “one of the best volunteer opportunities in Leisure World,” where individuals work with “congenial people and lovely customers.”

People with special skills related to sales, assessing values, computer design or other practical taletns will find an opportunity to utilize them at the bookstore. “If your special skill is being a cheerful and willing worker, this is also the opportunity for you,” Kruger said. A board member recently offered this quote from Muhammad Ali: “Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth”.

To volunteer, go to the bookstore and ask for an application. Volunteer shifts are usually from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. or 12:30-3:30 p.m. with flexibility of days. The Store is closed on Tuesdays and Sundays, and Saturday afternoons. Volunteers work as few as one shift per month or as many as desired.
