Art League will receive demo on journaling

The LW Art League will meet Tuesday, March 11, in Clubhouse 4 at 6 p.m. The guest artist is Jacki Long, a retired art teacher and karate martial arts instructor. She will conduct a workshop titled “The Many Faces of Journaling.” Long, 83, has a bachelor’s degree in arts and physical education, and a master’s degree in fine arts with a specialty in design. She has kept a journal for years and has completed 142 journals.

She will bring a dozen journals to share and boost members’ interest in journaling. Long has been retired for over 12 years and turned her journaling into her daily blog, which includes her daily art, a featured artist or activity, an update, a short video, a picture from nature and smiles. The workshop will cover many styles of journaling, and show how the practice of journaling helps both mental and physical health. There will be a live demonstration and video presentation as well.

There will be an art competition. The theme for the popular vote is portrait. Art League member renewal dues will be collected. Bring cash or checks to the meeting. Everyone is welcome to attend.
