Velvetones: March 2 and 16

The Velvetones Ballroom Dance Orchestra is Leisure World’s own professional big band, playing big band swing and jazz standards—music for dreaming and dancing. They will perform Sunday, March 2, from 6-9 p.m. in Clubhouse 4 and again, same place and time, on March 16.

Vinyl Rock: March 15

Vinyl Rock will perform on the third Saturday, March 15, instead of the second, in Clubhouse 4 at 7 p.m. All are welcome but guests must be accompanied by the resident who invites them. Vinyl Rock performs classic rock, pop and Motown tunes primarily from the ‘60s-‘80s. The band is sponsored by Cabaret Entertainers and is free to GRF members and their guests (over 18). Leisure suits, Fu Manchu ‘staches, mullets and big hair are welcome, but not required.

Abilene: March 22

Abilene is Leisure World’s No. 1 country rock band going strong for 22 years, featuring singer Tina Schaffer, Jim Greer on the drums, bassist Doug Decker, and new members Robin Johnston and Greg Johnson.

The band will perform Saturday, March 22, in Clubhouse 2. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the music goes until 9. Free dance lessons start at 6:30.

• No table saving. People can bring their own snacks.

• Attendees must be out of the clubhouse no later than 10 p.m. to permit adequate time for the custodian to tear down the setup.

• No announcements are permitted from the stage, except by the bands.

• Clubhouse lighting and audio- visual equipment can only be adjusted by the custodian according to the instructions they have been given.

• Be sure to sign in, either as a resident or guest.
