Sign-ups for three spring leagues are coming

An emergency Shuffleboard Club board meeting was held on Feb. 20 to discuss the happy circumstance of making sure every member who wants to play in a league can play. Ever accommodating and thrilled with the new and renewed interest in the sport, the board unanimously agreed to start the spring season the week of April 1 with three leagues. The three play options are Tuesday evenings from 5:308, Thursday afternoons from 1-3:30 and Friday mornings from 9-11:30. The sign-ups for the spring league will officially be available on Friday, Feb. 28, or the first day the courts are re-opened, whichever comes first. Members must use the sign-up sheet, even though they might have previously signed up or indicated interest. The deadline for spring season sign ups is Friday, March 21. The club congratulates the board members for their quick adaptation and enthusiasm for changing circumstances. One board member, Ellie West, remarked, “I never thought we’d have the problem of having to start three leagues, but I’m so happy we did.”

With the courts being closed for some unexpected maintenance in the last few weeks, it is important to clarify the remaining weeks for the winter league season. The winter Tuesday evening league will play on March 4, 11 and 18. The winter Friday morning league will play on Feb. 28, March 7, 14 and 21.
