First Christian Church

First Christian Church of Leisure World teaches from God’s word, the Holy Bible, most often verse by verse. It is a friendly church that welcomes all visitors to join in worship and explore God’s word together, “that we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine,” Romans 1:12.

Pastor’s Message

In Genesis 49, Jacob is near the end of his life. He summons his sons to give each one a prophecy concerning future events that will befall each tribe and their descendants up to the last days. Genesis 49:10 says, “The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh comes; and to Him shall be the obedience of the people.” Scepter speaks of a ruling authority; it will be realized 640 years in the future when David becomes king of Judah. David a descendant of Judah sat on the throne ruling over Israel, partially fulfi lling Jacob’s prophetic word. He and his descendants will have a scepter on the throne up to the time that Shiloh, meaning Jesus comes.

Many of Jacob’s prophetic words have been fulfilled concerning Israel and the 12 tribes, but many more will yet be fulfilled, some in the very last of days as the history of the 12 tribes is still ongoing.
