Art League collaborates with photography club

LW ART LEAGUE

The LW Art League met Feb. 11 in Clubhouse 4. The guest artist was LW resident and photographer Siegfried “Ziggy” Romano. In lieu of a live painting demonstration, Romano made a Powerpoint presentation on the proper technique of photographing paintings and 3D arts (ceramics and lapidary). He discussed proper lighting indoor and outdoor, perspective, balance and more. He also touched on the comparison of using smartphones and digital cameras in taking photographs.

The monthly art competition was judged by LW Art League Vice President Ramayana “RB” Baba. Raquel Tal won first place in the 3D/Craft category and the Best of Show award. Carmen Leslie won the popular vote award.

In the masters category, Alice Sioson won first place; Carmen Leslie, second; and Terese Smith, third. In the intermediate category, Ida Bruce won first place; Marion Higgins, second; and Linda Frysinger, third. Three new members joined: Greg Myers, Hanna Rubinstein and Les Coombes.

The Art League will meet March 11 at 6 p.m. in Clubhouse 4. All are invited.
