Tournament Poker Club tournament is Feb. 15
Those who would like to play a fun and friendly game of Texas Hold ‘Em for a $5 buy-in should make plans to play with the Tournament Poker Club on Saturday, Feb. 15. Regular tournaments are on the first three Saturdays of every month and start with coffee/treats and registration at 10 a.m. Cards are in the air at 10:30. There is no late seating.
At the club’s event on Feb. 4, about 45 players turned out, which made for a great time for all participants win or lose.
High hand winners were Harry Sera (A-A-A-A-6) and Franca Yeske (J-J-J-J-8). Brent Covington won a prize for playing and winning with the promo hand of 2-8.
As the winners of their original table, the final table players were: Nancy Jordan, first place; Jae Jun, second; Larry Slutsky, third; Robert Stefun, fourth; Wendy Wu, fifth; Barry Brideau, sixth; Namil Shin, seventh. Play continued at the final table until Jun and Jordan were head’s up. In the final hand of the match, Jordan was holding A-5 and Jun had A-10. Jun went all in after the flop and was called by Jordan. The flop came Q-5-9, giving Jordan the lead with a pair of 5s.
The turn was a king, and the river was a queen, neither of which helped Jun and gave Jordan the win with her pair of 5s.
Jordan has lived in Leisure World for 15 years and has been a member of the poker club for 14. This was her first final table win in quite awhile. Besides poker, she is interested in genealogy.
The club congratulates all the winners.
