GOLDEN AGE FOUNDATION

Meals on Wheels of Long Beach (MOWLB) expresses its gratitude to the Golden Age Foundation (GAF) for their support of the home-delivered meal program. GAF recently donated $20,340.75 to support the nutritional and emotional needs of the most vulnerable Leisure World homebound residents. Since March 2020, MOWLB has delivered over 120,000 freshly prepared meals.

The organization is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit community-based organization founded in 1971. The nonprofit began serving LWSB residents in 2013. Two freshly prepared meals—a hot dinner, a complete lunch, dessert, and a beverage—are delivered every weekday with a friendly visit and wellness check to over 100 residents. Deliveries are made by caring and trained community volunteers. The goal for the organization is to help its clients remain safe, socially connected and nourished at home for as long as possible. The program is available to all Leisure World residents who have difficulty cooking or shopping for meals due to an illness or recent surgery. The daily donation fee is $11.50 for the complete service.
