Naval Weapons Station drills to end Feb. 14

MILITARY EXCERCISES

Beginning Feb. 3, the Seal Beach Naval Weapons Station launched an annual series of national security exercises, some of which are accompanied by an increase in law enforcement activites around the station.

The exercises, collectively called Citadel Shield-Solid Curtain 2025, are conducted simultaneously on all Navy bases throughout the continental United States. At the naval weapons station, drills and training are being conducted on a wide range of potential security scenarios on land, water and air.

The exercises may cause increased traffic, delays in base access, and temporary gate closures. Some drills may include the use of role players. The station’s “Giant Voice” mass notification loudspeaker and alarm system may also be used. Civilian boat traffic through Anaheim Bay is unlikely to be affected.

The series of exercises are scheduled to conclude by Friday, Feb. 14. They are not in response to any specific threat, but are part of regularly scheduled annual training, developed to enhance the readiness of Navy security teams.

Live updates will be posted on the station’s Facebook page, named “Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach, Detachment Fallbrook, Detachment Norco.”
