LW Democratic Club
Leisure World Democrats and supporters are reminded about the importance of voting in the current special primary election to replace Janet Nguyen as LW’s representative in the California Senate.
There are four candidates running in this election. Two of the candidates are Democrats and two are Republicans. If any one of these candidates gets more than 50% of the vote in this special election, there will be no general election to select the winner.
The Leisure World Democratic Club has endorsed immigration attorney Jimmy Pham for election in the Feb. 22 primary. Pham is one of over 15,000 attorneys and law professors who are members of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. During the club’s January membership meeting, over 70 LW residents gathered in Clubhouse 3 to meet Pham. He had joined them to lead a discussion about the probable consequences of the president’s plans for mass deportations of migrants.
Pham is an Orange County native, the son of a pioneering dentist and a key figure in the establishment of Little Saigon. He continues his family’s tradition of service by guiding the community through the intricacies of immigration and holding significant roles in local organizations. This includes being chair of the Westminster Traffic Commission and board secretary for the Vietnamese American Democratic Club The club’s hospitality and voter information booth, located in the parking lot outside Clubhouse 6, will again be open from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of every month.
