Four teams shine with lots of all-game winners

Each Tuesday night and Friday morning each Shuffleboard Club team member plays two games. If the player wins both of those games, they are called all-game winners. Usually there will be one or two and sometimes three all-game winners, but in the past two weeks four of the teams, all playing in the Tuesday League, have had more. This is a very unusual occurrence and one worthy of recognition and applause.

On Jan. 21, Bob Peterson’s team had five all-game winners, which means five out of six players on the team won both their games. On Jan. 24, Jack O’Brien’s team had four all-game winners. The following week, on Jan. 28, both Sue Burkschab’s and Harold Morehead’s teams had four out of six players achieve that same status as well. The special January only clinic has ended, but Monday open play is still going strong and is the perfect chance to practice and hone skills. People are at the courts on Wednesday mornings from approximately 9-11 for members who want to play then as well.

The February membership meeting and the club Valentine’s party are both being held on Thursday, Feb. 13. The membership meeting is held monthly in Clubhouse 1 at 10 a.m., and the Valentine’s party will be held that same evening at Clubhouse 3, Room 1, at 5. There is still an opportunity to sign up and choose what one might bring to the potluck.

Jan. 24 Friday morning league results: Team Sally bested Team Carol 7-5. Team Sally’s all-game winners were Sally Fowler and Ellie West. Doris Morton and Vivian Ceballos were all-game winners for Team Carol. Team Shel overcame Team Jack 7-5. All-game winners for Team Shel were Shel Magnuson and Diana Smith. Team Jack’s all-game winners were Randi Allen, Sal LaScala, Marlene Levy and Kirk Smith.

Jan. 28 Tuesday evening league results: Team Sue triumphed over Team Bob 8-4. Team Sue had a whopping four all-winners: Sue Burkschab, Sal LaScala, Patty Peterson and Carol Schubeck. Team Harold upended Team Karen 10-2. Again, there were a whopping four all-game winners for Team Harold: Lyn Baidack, Roger Bennett, Anne Calvo and Harold Morehead.
