Dances are held monthly in Leisure World, organized by the GRF Recreation Department.

Sunday, Feb. 4, Ballroom Dance: The Velvetones Ballroom Dance Orchestra is Leisure World’s own professional big band, playing big band swing and jazz standards. They are back in action Sunday, Feb. 2, from 6-9 p.m. in Clubhouse 4. The Velvetones play regularly at Clubhouse 4 on the first and third Sunday evenings and will return on Feb. 16.

Saturday, Feb. 8, Rock ‘N’ Roll: The Legends of Rock will perform on Saturday, Feb. 8 in Clubhouse 4 at 7 p.m. All are welcome but guests must be accompanied by the resident who invites them.

The Legends of Rock have carved out a reputation in Orange County, playing the top rock tunes from the ‘50s-‘80s. Led by Mutual 17 resident Jon Pearlstone, the group performs monthly under the LW Pickleball Club and always fills the house. They will be joining the GRF weekend dance lineup for three special appearances in 2025.

Saturday, Feb. 22, Country Rock: Abilene Seal Beach will perform Saturday, Feb. 22, in Clubhouse 2 from 6:30-9 p.m. Free dance lessons precede the performance, starting at 6:30. Abilene is Leisure World’s No. 1 country rock band going strong for 22 years. Singer Tina Schaffer, Jim Greer on the drums, bassist Doug Decker, and new members Robin Johnston and Greg Johnson continue the tradition, started by the late Terry Otte and Rod Anderson. They have incorporated some new sounds and new artists that people won’t want to miss.
