LW Pool League
The Leisure World Pool League started its spring season on Jan. 20 and Wednesday, Jan. 22. There are six teams on both nights. Every team will play every other team twice during the season. Teams consist of three players, an A, B and C player. Each match is 13 games, so there is never a tied match. Every player plays singles in eight ball and nine ball against their corresponding opponent. They also play doubles with their two teammates, in both eight ball and nine ball. In the final game all three players from both teams play eight ball. Partners alternate shots.
On Jan. 20, I Don’t Care beat Anywhere But There 9-4. Rick Reed, Frank Sablan and WildFire! Christensen all won five games for I Don’t Care.
The Snipers beat Dead Eye 9-4, so I Don’t Care and the Snipers are tied for the early lead. Guta Basner led the Snipers with six wins, including both of her doubles matches, The Renegades edged the Cue Crew 7-6. Gary Monahan won four games for the Renegades.
On Jan. 22, the Sharks beat Three Layers Deep 10-3 to take the early lead. Patrick Conlon won six games for the Sharks and teammate Brian Burke won five.
The Favorites won 9-4 over Three Dog Night. Dave Silva of the Favorites won five games and both of his singles matches.
The Burners edged RDM Trio 7-6. John Burns and Elizabeth Butterfield both won five games for the Burners.
