Get help signing up for free phone plan Feb. 5
Residents can get assistance signing up for the state-sponsored LifeLine Program, which provides free cell service to low-income seniors, on Wednesday, Feb. 5, in the Optum Health Care Center Large Conference Room.
The event is sponsored by Optum and Carla Ibarra, and organized by LW resident Bonnie Cooper. Refreshments will be served.
Representatives from AlwaysFree Wireless will help people fill out forms and provide free Android cell phones to those who qualify.
To qualify for the program, a person’s total household income must be at or less than $23,400 for a single-person household, and $31,700 for a two-person household. Documentation is required.
Applicants can also qualify if someone in their household is enrolled in certain public assistance programs, such as SNAP, WIC or Medi-Cal/Medicaid. See the Jan. 23 edition of the LW Weekly for the full list, or visit the California LifeLine website at www.californialifeline. com/en.
Those who plan to attend the event should RSVP to Carla Ibarra at 1-800-242-1074.
