First Christian Church
First Christian Church of Leisure World teaches from God’s word, the Holy Bible. It is a friendly church that welcomes everyone to join in worship and explore God’s word together. “That we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine,” Romans 1:12.
Pastor’s Message
Continuing in Genesis chapter 45, Joseph’s brothers return to Canaan and give their father the good news—his son Joseph is alive and doing well. Upon hearing of his son’s well-being, Jacob’s spirit is revived, and in Genesis 45:28 he says: “It is enough my son Joseph is still alive. I will go and see him before I die.” At night, visions came to Jacob and God spoke: “Jacob, Jacob.” And Jacob said, “Here I am.” God tells him: “ Do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for I will make you a great nation there. I will go down with you to Egypt and I will also surely bring you up again.”
If Jacob had any reservations about going to Egypt, God’s words no doubt put to rest any fear that he may have had. Those two promises of “I will” are promises of God, and by looking back, history has shown that God has fulfilled those promises along with countless other concerning the great nation of Israel, the Jewish people and the gentiles as well. The promise of a savior, Jesus Christ. Matthew 1:21 reads: “And she will bring forth a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.”
