Guys and Gals Golf Tournament

A sunny, but very cold morning greeted 33 teams of one man and one woman of differing abilities at Leisure World’s par 54 Turtle Lake Golf Course on Jan. 15. As the morning went on the temperatures increased to make it a wonderful day to play golf with friends. The teams competed for best net scores, four circle holes (shots within a 5-foot radius rewarded), and two closest-tothe pin challenges.

Overall the golf course was in good shape with greens, fairways, and tee boxes in very playable condition. The environment helped contribute to excellent scoring with 31 of the 33 teams being net at or below par, plus there were seven circle hole winners, and 57 birdies recorded.

Low net score for the round was a tie by Tom Owens and Alison Kim, and Steve and Connie Kang at 11 under par. Jae H. and Sun Lee were second lowest with 10 under. Closest to the pin for the men was Pat Paternoster and James Farr, and A shotgun scramble tournament with men and women in teams of six is scheduled for Jan. 29 with an 8 a.m. start.
