First Christian Church

First Christian Church of Leisure World teaches from God’s word, the holy Bible. It is a friendly church that welcomes all visitors to join in worship and explore God’s word together, “That we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine,” Romans 1:12.

Pastor’s Message

In conjunction with the ongoing Genesis study, the movie “Joseph” will be shown on Saturday, Jan. 18, from 2-5 p.m. at First Christian Church. This movie depicts the biblical account of Joseph, the 11th son of Jacob, son of Isaac. Sold by his brothers into slavery at the age of 17, Joseph, who God gifted with the ability to interpret dreams, ascended from a slave to Pharaoh’s most trusted aide, saving Egypt from seven years of famine.

When this widespread famine brought his brothers to Egypt in search of food, the result is a picture of redemption, forgiveness, and reconciliation as God uses Joseph, his 11 brothers, and his father Jacob in a powerful way. Some 400 years later, God’s servant Moses would lead the Israelites out of slavery and their bondage in Egypt to the land God had promised them.

Genesis 12:1-3 is the call of Abraham:“To get out of your country, from your family and from your father’s house to a land I will show you. I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; and you shall be a bless from your father’s house, and I will curse those who curse you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

Today the great nation of Israel and people, the Jews, are distant descendants of those who survived 400 years of slavery. These are the same people to whom the promised Messiah, Jesus, would come to, and, “having been made perfect, He became to all those who obey Him the source of eternal salvation,” Hebrews 5:9.
