Redeemer Lutheran and St. Theodore’s
On Sunday, Jan. 12, the congregations of Redeemer Lutheran Church and St. Theodore of Canterbury Episcopal Church will be celebrating the Baptism of Our Lord Sunday. The Rev. Murray D. Finck will preside over the 10:30 a.m. Communion and worship service at 13564 St. Andrews Drive.
Fellowship will continue afterward in the Fellowship Hall with coffee, tea, cookies and snacks. All are welcome.
As always, the congregations continue to collect food donations of canned and boxed foods for the hungry.
The Bible study will continue on Jan. 15 at noon. The group will continue with the study of the Ten Commandments under the guidance of Bishop Murray Finck.
The gospel lesson for this week is from Luke 3:15-17, 21-22.
John’s account of what the Messiah was coming to do sounds a bit scary. Do believers really want the Messiah and savior to come with fire? Ready to cast things into unquenchable fire?
One would think, if all these people who were looking for the Messiah and asking John if he was the Messiah and they heard this voice from heaven declaring Jesus as “You are my Son, the Beloved; with you I am well pleased” wouldn’t that have made Jesus’s life a little easier to get people to believe in him?
